Police seized 584.7 kilos of cocaine
The agents of the Narcotics Police of the Zone 8 and the Urban Service of southern Guayaquil seized 584.7 kilos of cocaine in three operations carried out in the main port.
On Sunday, seven members of one family, including three women, were arrested while transporting 20 packages of cocaine, with a weight of 20.3 kilos.
Colonel Tanya Varela, commander of the 8th Zone of the Police said that the suspects were traveling in two vehicles and were tracked from the Duran county.
However, when they arrived at Guayaquil, they were intercepted in the Boyaca and Piedrahita streets in downtown. There, after an inspection of the two trucks they were driving, agents found the alkaloid.
Two children who were with the detainees were handed today to the Dinapen.
Another seizure occurred in the seaport. In a container that came from Buenaventura, Colombia, and was bound for Manzanillo, Mexico, 172, 3 kilos of cocaine were found.
While in an abandoned Hino truck near the Planetarium, in the south of the city, the police found 392.2 kilos of the same drug.
