Police seizes 1.2 tons of drugs in three days

In several raids in the provinces of Guayas, Pichincha, Manabi and Esmeraldas, in the past three days, the police seized 1.2 tons of drugs and arrested 17 people.

After three months of investigations El Triunfo county (Guayas), the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Police (UIAN for its Spanish acronym) seized a cargo of 267.7 kilos of drugs coming from Colombia by land. Five people were arrested and several houses in the province of Los Rios were also raided in this case.

Meanwhile, in Guayaquil 64 packages with 72.9 kilos of cocaine were seized, and three people were detained. the police reported that monitoring made from the border with Colombia, enabled the UIAN in Manta, in the Manabi province, to seize 116.4 kilos of cocaine packed in 112 packets. Three people were imprisoned, including a minor.
