Pope Francis says that the Church should not to fear to changes
Posted On 20 Oct 2014
Pope Francis chaired on October 19 the closure of a meeting of Catholic bishops which left in evidence deep divisions in the Synod around homosexuality and divorce. The pontiff said that the Church should not to fear to changes.
Francis, who has said he wants a more compassionate and less rigid Catholic Church, made these comments during a sermon in Saint Peter’s Square, at the close of the Synod or assembly of bishops.
In the ceremony, Francis also proclaimed blessed to Paul VI, the Italian Giovanni Battista Montini (1963-1978), who was the pontiff that ended the Vatican Council II and consolidated the Church ban to contraception.
