Presidency carries on with 30S investigations
This time, the request for an investigation over the police uprising of September 30, 2010, fall into two journalists and a TV Station, which, according to the government, should be questioned by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Last Saturday in his usual nation-wide broadcast, President Rafael Correa referred to national television channel Teleamazonas and journalists Milton Perez and Freddy Paredes, considering a tweet from Teleamazonas’ Twitter account, that at least one day before, they already “knew” that the uprising would occur, which the government states as a coup attempt.
Also, Correa said that this week, he will speak with General Attorney Galo Chiriboga “because it is true that most of the facts of September 30 still remain unpunished..” and cited the case of two policemen who tried to fire against other officers.
According to some political analysts, the September 30 event clearly has a political connotation and the government just wants to close the issue since there are controversial pending judgments that could bring out different truths about the facts of 30S.
