President Correa assesses the country’s foreign policy with ambassadors
The president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, yesterday asked national ambassadors abroad to be “aware of what the press says,” face “without respite” the “articulated” and “malicious” disinformation campaigns against the country in international media, reported the Andres agency.
He explained that the idea is to position the image of a country that despite the difficulties not having a national currency, still has indicators, social and economic achievements and political stability “many countries envy,” and pointed out that organizations such as the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has recognized the good performance of the government in this field.
He said that this year 2015, particularly difficult due to the external economic situation that has impacted the country, with falling oil prices and the appreciation of the currency, some groups have taken advantage to make political chicanery and misinformation about it.
