Posted On 24 Jan 2015
President Rafael Correa spoke out against the popular referendum Guayaquil plans to perform by the rise in urban bus fares.
According to the president, Jaime Nebot, mayor of Guayaquil, can “ask whatever he wants,” in relation to the value of the public transport fares, however, he recalled that transport competition is the responsibility of the mayor.
Correa criticized that the City Hall of Guayaquil has not yet civil agents in the streets, because the traffic police cost to the state $ 27 million a year and the majority of localities type A already have this control mechanism.
