PS Vita: Sony’s New Multi-touch HandHeld

Posted On 08 Jun 2011

Japanese company Sony unveiled its new handheld console, the successor of the PSP: PS Vita at the E3 conference. The PS Vita has an impressive 5 inch OLED display (960X544) multi-touch interface control that promises an immediate response speed, a perfect smooth graphical feedback, and a great wealth of customization options to make the most of your touch options.

But it is not only touch, PS Vita also features the classic controls of the PlayStation brand, with a new and refined design, which includes the reliable analog sticks and the D-pad control. The latter is adapted to the curvature of a thumb to offer greater convenience to users who play for long periods of time.

The two control modes offer a large number of interactive options for games designed to suit the characteristics of PS Vita.

The PS Vita has a powerful ARM Cortex CPU – A9 core (4 cores), 2 cameras (one front and one rear), high-quality stereo microphone and surround speakers. Along with this, the motion sensor implemented in Six-Axis will control the most exciting games by moving your hands. The console will support music and video files of all types, as well as serve as a great photo album (jpg, tiff, bmp, gif or png) with high-resolution screen.

PS Vita also comes with ports for Vita Playstation Card, Memory Card, SIM Card (only if 3G/WiFi model), a multi-purpose port (for USB communication, to load the console and use it as audio output stereo) and the classic mini jack for connecting headphones.

The costs of the new console from Sony vary by version, the PS Vita WiFi Only for $ 249.00, and PS Vita 3G/WiFi for $ 299.00. They will be available at the end of 2011.

Connection and Social Apps

The PS Vita comes with “Near”, an application that allows users to share content with other users within a close perimeter, it also enables users to see what games the other users are enjoying or see the places they have visited in recent days.

Moreover, Party (another app preinstalled on PS Vita) lets you use text and voice chats.
