On September 9, 2015, the Procurement of Works Service (Secob for its Spanish acronym) and the Chinese company CAMC Engineering signed a contract for the construction of the Government Platform of Financial Management, located in the Inaquito sector, in Quito.
The project, which involves the construction of buildings that will accommodate nearly 4,000 employees of various government agencies, is being implemented at a cost of $ 197’975.643,58.
That work involves the most expensive procurement process in the country, held in 2015.
With $ 248’172.533,89 awarded in 70 processes, the Secob appears in third place in the list of public bodies that the National Public Procurement Service (Sercop) identifies as the largest contractors (by amount) the previous year (see infographic).
The ranking is led by Petroecuador EP, with $ 547’336.390,89 awarded in 1,016 procedures. That amount represented the 7.41% of the total procurement of 2015.
