Quino confesses that his eyes did not allow him to continue drawing
Argentine writer and humor cartoonist, Joaquin Salvador Lavado, known worldwide as Quino, announced that he has stopped drawing because of difficulties in his vision.
“I want to keep drawing but my eyes does not let me,” he confessed during an interview with Mexican media before being honored at the XXXIII International Book Fair of Oaxaca (FILO for its Spanish acronym,) which opened today . Also said he has left the pencils “because age also matters in this job” and that he misses it because he would like to continue doing it.”
The cartoon icon said on Saturday he was satisfied with his stories and through them he has said “almost all” that he has felt throughout his life. Quino says his work has always addressed the huge commitment to “the political and social issues” and has tried to “help mitigate them a bit.”
“Mafalda’s father”, affirms that if he could continue, he would base his comics in “the overall theme of espionage, on the island of Lampedusa, the hundreds of immigrants who die off the coast of Italy , and the war in Syria.
