Quintero will be the new ambassador of Ecuador in Venezuela
The appointment of Assemblywoman María Augusta Calle, Ambassador of Ecuador in Venezuela, appointed by presidential decree was revoked.
Presidential Decree No. 526 indicated that since the date on which Calle was appointed as ambassador, in April, so far she has failed to be inaugurated as such, a reason why the appointment was revoked. The exact causes for Calle to not inaugurate in the charge are unknown.
As a replacement, Rafael Bernardino Quintero Lopez was appointed, foreign ministry official who was in charge of drafting the rules of the diplomatic pouch.
In addition, President Rafael Correa issued another decree to appoint the former Minister of Defense, Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces, as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ecuador before the headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland.
Espinosa will be responsible for replacing Luis Gallegos, who was in the diplomatic delegation since 2011.
