Rafael Correa: “Bringing the ‘Venezuelan blondie’ is super illegal.”
Posted On 20 Mar 2017

During his weekly address No. 516, broadcast from Salitre (Guayas), President Rafael Correa raged against Lilian Tintori for trying to enter Ecuador to support Guillermo Lasso’s campaign. She is the wife of Leopoldo López, an imprisoned leader of the Venezuelan political opposition.
“This week they brought this lady …, what is the name of the Venezuelan blondie? Lilian Tintori. she insults our country; She blatantly says she comes for a change, to proselytize; That is super illegal, but it´s also an affront to our sovereignty. Can you imagine it? They bring foreigners to interfere in the Ecuadorian elections. What a shame! What, do you think we are, a colony? Who does she think she is? The viceroy´s daughter?”
That was one of the “bombs” of the opposition, he added. And he continued with a publication of Pagina 12, an Argentine daily, about Lasso´s offshore companies, with which, the president assures, the candidate “hides his wealth.”
He also rejected the Cedatos’ “fraudulent survey,” which places Lasso with a minimal advantage over the government´s candidate Lenin Moreno.
For the next week, he said, the list of Odebrecht bribes will leak. “Everything is handled from Miami, with the support of certain intelligence centers and certain fugitive bankers.”
