Writer, journalist, geopolitical expert and Spanish sociologist Ignacio Ramonet said today in the Ecuadorian capital that traditional politics “is in crisis” and commented that countries should be prepared to face possible “cyberwars.”

Ramonet said that politics can no longer be reserved only for politicians and said that in today’s world with social networks available, it is “impossible that politics continue belonging to a small group of professionals.”

Similarly, he added thatthe idea of a parliamentary assembly as a “model of society” or “a reduced model of society” through elections “no longer works,” because now people with their “digital capacity” can draw on social networks to give an opinion.
