The President of Cuba, Raul Castro, said on Saturday that an “obstacle” was removed in relations between the island and the United States with the agreements reached with the US President Barack Obama to restore diplomatic ties.
“The Cuban people are grateful for this righteous decision of the President of the United States, Barack Obama. This has removed an obstacle in relations between our countries,” said Castro.
Furthermore, Castro said he has the “willingness” to talk about any issue with the US.
“We reiterate our willingness to the mutual and respectful dialogue on disagreements. We have strong convictions and a lot of concerns about what happens in the United States on democracy and human rights,” said the Cuban President.
