Rebels Arrived to the Doors of Tripoli

Posted On 28 Feb 2011

The city Zauiya is controlled by rebel troops and mix of citizens committees along with military officials that oppose Gaddafi’s regime. The battles of the last few days have changed the tide of the conflict. The rebels are at the gates of the capital, the last bastion of defense of Gaddafi’s regime for the past 42 years.

This location is the strategic point to overthrow the dictator. In the city two hundred thousand civilians talked about the punishments of the regimen for their insurrection, several hostilities occurred, and even though many perished, the opposition, supported by military officials maintained their position and freedom.

All the images captured by photographers show how everyday Gaddafi is losing his sanity as well as his power, while cornering himself in the capital. Meanwhile he still maintains the posture of a king worshipped by those that still are loyal to him. However, the road to Tripoli is still under his regime, and it is protected by eight security checkpoints.
