Recognition of the State of Palestine is discussed in French Parliament
After Spanish and British, French deputies prepare to vote on a symbolic resolution requesting the government to recognize the State of Palestine, in a context of international frustration at the failure of the peace process in the Middle East.
With the initiative of the deputies of the socialist majority, the National Assembly shall vote on a resolution that “invites the French Government to recognize the State of Palestine in order to obtain a final solution to the conflict”.
The vote is scheduled on Tuesday, December 2nd.
Before the French deputies, the French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, asked for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to be resolved within two years.
Fabius also said France is preparing to host an international conference on the conflict, but did not say when it would take place and who would participate in it.
