Resolution supporting query is approved by the Parliament of Catalonia
With 89 votes, representing 65.9% of the Chamber, the Catalan regional Parliament yesterday approved a resolution in favor of promoting the sovereign consultation for independence from Spain.
The resolution was passed with votes of Catalan nationalist parties mostly and will allow the government of Catalonia to perform the query scheduled for November 9th, which is rejected by the Spanish government, which considers it illegal.
The resolution calls for boosting consultation “with all possible guarantees and democratic participation” and “in accordance with the legal framework.”
Likewise, it is expected to act with the “maximum consensus” in the sovereign process to boost the consultation and urge the Catalan President, Artur Mas, to carry it out “in accordance with the legal framework.”
The text also urges Mas to “consult the full Parliament when the circumstances of the democratic process to decide the political future of Catalonia require it.”
