Retirees raise their concerns about changes in Biess
Retirees went yesterday to the Committee on Economic Regime concerned about the fate that could have the funds of the IESS Bank (Biess) and IESS, if the Monetary and Financial Code draft is approved.
Edison Lima, President of the Association of Retirees of Ecuador, highlighted Article 372 of the Constitution of Montecristi, which states: “The funds and reservations of the Mandatory General Insurance will be of its own and different of the State ones(…). No public institution may operate or dispose of its funds and reserves or undermine its heritage”.
According to Lima, in the Code is posed the cessation of the Biess Directory and the new conformation with three members of the Executive and two retiree and affiliate members. He added that the cessation of the Board will leave with no representation to the Biess owners, who are members and retirees.
Oswaldo Larriva, President of the Committee on Economic Regime, announced that all the points raised by retirees, insurance companies, the Chamber of Industry and entities of the popular economy, will be discussed.
