Roberto Manrique, a victim of the Hipercor attack, recently interviewed the former chief of the Barcelona ETA in that time, Rafael Caride Simon.
After two hours interviewing the former terrorist in the prison of Alava, Caride recognized “at last the politics have won the battle against terrorism,” in a world where ETA and the left-wing Abertzale will also have to recognize the damage they have caused.
Caride was one the authors behind the terrorist attack in Hipercor, where ETA murdered 21 people and left 45 wounded in Barcelona on June 1987. Caride assured Manrique that the “decision of ETA (to abandon the fight) will not change.” (AV)
