Robots Arrive to Educational Institutions
The innovation arrived to High school San José La Salle, one of the first institutions that make students apply the acquired knowledge in robotics.
Students in 5th and 6th year -with the guidance of their teacher, Eric Lamilla- worked for six months in their creations to compete in the robotic competition that will be held at Universidad Católica de Guayaquil in January.
Pupils will compete against projects from different universities, but they do not have fear because they know that their robots are at a university level.
To complete their creations students have sacrificed their leisure hours, but they are excited because this experience will help them in their professional lives.
For the creation of robots students bring innovative ideas, with the guidance of their teacher and help from Espol University engineers. The robots that they have made are:
The Searching Robot
It is a robot that can go inside places of difficult access, has 3 chambers to provide an image from different angles, the sight of the robot will be watched through another screen that will be connected to the prototype via WiFi.
The Searching Robot speaks, it has an alarm, but also has claws that can move objects that stands in its way. This robot was created by fifth year students in Computer Science.
The Force Robot
It was created for accomplish the purpose of the competition, which is that one of the two robots who fight goes out of the track, so students have made it with an ultrasonic sensor that allows the robot to detect when it has something in front, then automatically the prototype activates a system to push the opponent off the track.
The competition is played on a black circle with a white border, so to keep the robot inside the area, the pupils have placed a light sensor that detects color change. Once it detects that the color is white the robot begins to reverse, turns, and looks to push his opponent off the track again.
The Football Robots
Three robotic soccer players will be managed with remote controls. The inventors will simulate a game at Universidad Católica de Guayaquil and who target the most goals wins.
Students receive strong support from school officials who promise to create a robotic club next year.
