Rousseff announced immediate measures to revive the economy of Brazil
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, of the Workers Party (PT), announced that she will not wait to start her new mandate to try to revive the economy with a package of measures promised during her campaign.
Rousseff, who will officially begin her second term on Jan. 1, said in an interview on Monday: “I will not wait to finish this term to promote actions that transform or enhance the growth of our economy. I will announce it next month.”
As a result of the tight elections, leaving the opposition with a high percentage (48.36%) against her, the president said: “in a democratic country, who conquers wins the majority and that’s just what happened.”
“Now it is time that we all unite to ensure the country a better future. We must also open a dialogue with all the productive and social forces, including the financial sector,” said the president.
Rousseff’s remarks comes after that on Monday, the Brazilian stock market fell at 2.7%, the dollar rose and the oil company Petrobras shares fell sharply.
