Russia calls for mutual respect of interests to cooperate with the US
Russian President Vladimir Putin assured this Wednesday that Russia is ready to cooperate at all levels with the US, according to the principle of mutual respect for the interests of both powers.
“We are ready for practical cooperation with our American partners at all levels in accordance with the principles of mutual respect of interests, equal rights and non-interference in internal affairs,” Putin said.
The Russian leader made these statements on receiving the credentials of the new US Ambassador John Tefft, during a ceremony in the Kremlin, where 15 other ambassadors attended too.
“Russia and the United States have a special responsibility to maintain security and stability, and counter global challenges and threats,” he added.
However, he recognized the strategic nature of the current increased economic cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, with a view to the development of Siberia and the Far East, adding that Russia “is equally interested in developing cooperation with the East and with the West. ”
