Sales show negative figures for three consecutive months
The figures for commercial sales in the country show that due to lack of money people have to buy less, or deprive from purchasing what is not important to have. For three months straight the results of the change in value of sales have been negative, according to the monthly survey of Business Opinion, of the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE for its Spanish acronym). In June it was -3.3%, -2.6 in July and -0.8% in August.
It is expected that sales recover by 3 percent in September.
The survey, that involved 246 companies from the commercial sector, indicated that employment decreased by 0.2% last month. But the disturbing thing here is that for eight months in a row the demand for labor has been negative, according to the document.
