Scientists Create Medusoid Using Rat Cells

Artificial Jellyfish
U.S. scientists create an artificial jellyfish, similar to a eight-petal flower, with cells of a rat’s heart, silicon and genetic engineering. The creation swims and emits electrical pulses just like its living counterparts.
“Morphologically, we built a jellyfish. Functionally, we built a jellyfish. Genetically, this is a rat”, assured the responsible for the creation, Kit Parker, to representatives of the scientific magazine Nature.
The experiment recreated the structure with rat tissues and then applied electricity to have it contracted.
When placed between two electrodes in water, the jellyfish swims like a real living being, it even managed to produce streams similar to those that carry food particles to the mouth of real jellyfishes. MZ
