Six cities in Ecuador are exceeded in environmental pollution

Posted On 29 May 2016

More than 80% of people living in urban areas breathe an air that could cause them to stroke or chronic respiratory diseases.

This information is highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO) after it collected data from 3,000 cities. Although all regions are affected, who suffer most from this problem are the citizens who live in developing countries.

The most polluted city in the world is Onitsh, a port rapidly growing and very busy, in southeastern Nigeria, which exceeds 600 times the pollution level recommended by WHO.

The report’s findings show that more than a quarter of the cities in Latin America and the Caribbean are doubling or tripling the limits that the international entity established as harmful.

The organization analyzed the levels of small particles and thin that harm health. The microparticles called PM2.5 arise from the burning of fossil fuels such as diesel (I).
