The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS) will activate call centers through which they will contact contractors to whom the state owes money to reach agreements on the payment of their tax and employer´s obligations.

This was announced by the Coordinator Minister of Production Vinicio Alvarado in an interview with the government space Guayas Speaks.

Last week, leaders of productive sectors complain that President Rafael Correa asked them to wait “patiently” the payments for their services, but neither the IRS or the IESS have patience with them.

In the interview, Alvarado said he already held a meeting with the president and with his colleagues of the financial area to find solutions.

“The IRS and the IESS will contact employers with which the State has outstanding bills to reach agreements and take measures … There will be arrears penalties or taxes,” said Alvarado.
