St. Narcisa visited by thousands of parishioners on Christmas Eve
Thousands of devotees of the Ecuadorian Saint Narcisa de Jesus, visited this weekend her sanctuary, located in the Nobol, Guayas province. The events began on November 29 and ending with today’s liturgies.
Several groups from different provinces, as Manabi, Los Rios, Santa Elena and Tungurahua, among others, were in order to pay tribute to the Violet of Nobol, the 144 years of his death.
At 07:00 the main routes of vehicular traffic were closed before the arrival of thousands of parishioners to Nobol. Dozens of street vendors took the opportunity to sell stamps and traditional religious paintings, where the elements used holy, besides the box where he rested his body were. There were masses every hour between 07:00 and 12:00; and 14:00, 16:00 and 19:30, most presided by Father Stanley Henriques, rector of the sanctuary, who also confessed to the devotees.
Narcisa de Jesus died in Lima on December 8, 1869, however, that day being the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, the Church moved the feast to 9 December. St. Narcisa was canonized on October 12, 2008 .
