Superintendency sets eleven conditions on merger of brewing companies
Posted On 14 May 2016
The multinational brewer company AB InBev (with its subsidiary in the country Ambev Ecuador) shall comply eleven conditions to acquire the shares of SABMiller (owner of Cerveceria Nacional). That was the decision of the Committee Resolution of First Instance of the Superintendency of Control of Market Power, released yesterday by its president Marcelo Ortega.
Among the conditions are selling its plant in Guayaquil, which has a production capacity of one million hectoliters per year. Another is the sale of the Zenda, Biela and Maltin brands, owned by Ambev Ecuador, and the Dorada brand, of the National Beer Company mark.
The idea is to allow the entry of a third company so this can generate a competitive pressure.
