Supervisor vs. supervised
Posted On 03 Mar 2017

The candidates for the vice presidency also play their cards before the second round of elections: one as the supervisor and another as the supervised technician.
Corruption in the state company Petroecuador and alleged bribes paid to Ecuadorian officials by the construction company Odebrecht have led to a cross of accusations between Andrés Páez, vice president hopeful (CREO), and Jorge Glas, (Alianza PAIS).
The first ‘blow’ was given by Paez. In December, he went to the Attorney General to request an immediate act against the vice president and candidate for re-election. The objective? To rapidly analyze the documents and determine Glas´ possible implication in both cases.
The official reaction came almost three months later. On Wednesday, Glas went to the same court to demand that all those who mentioned him in the complaints, including Paez, be investigated. The official ran with better luck and was received by the Attorney General himself, Galo Chiriboga.
