Support and rejection to the debated reform reactive demonstrations

Citizen groups, both that support the government as opponents, ended yesterday the organizational strategies for the new round of demonstrations that will take place this evening at least nine cities.

This time the opposition march focuses on the rejection the rise in the taxes on sweetened drinks, beer, cigarettes and the new tax on foreign exchange outflows, among other topics, covered in the Organic Law on the Balance of Public Finances the government sent last March 31 to the Assembly as an “urgent measure.” This bill envisages to raise about $ 300 million.

Assemblyman of the CREO party Andres Paez, who leads the call in Quito, said that groups have been organized through Facebook and Twitter to protest against the tax reform from 17:00 at the Tribuna de los Shyris. “I will go as any other citizen. Throughout the country a simultaneous call has been made through networks,” said Paez.
