Syria is free of chemical weapons
Posted On 24 Jun 2014
The Syrian chemical arsenal has finally left the country altogether. The last shipment of 100 tonnes of toxic chemicals (out of the 1,300 tonnes) held by the regime of Bashar al-Assad, has sailed from the Syrian port of Latakia on board of the Danish ship Ark Futura.
Now the sarin and mustard gas, besides the VX nerve gas, will be destroyed in the Mediterranean within the sealed chambers of the U.S. ship Cape Ray, while the least hazardous products will be neutralized in various facilities in open ground at Germany, Finland, UK and USA.
Syria established as marked date to get rid of all of its arsenal, next 30 June.
