Syria Observer Mission Chief Addresses the UN
Posted On 19 Jun 2012
The leader of the now suspended UN observer mission (UNSMIS) in Syria, Major-General Robert Mood, is set to brief the UN Security Council to explain the concern of the escalating violence which could mean the end of the international Kofi Annan’s peace plan.
This Tuesday, Robert Mood and Herve Ladsous will meet the 15 council ambassadors in New York to give their report regarding the surge of violence in the country that led Mood to suspend all other activities of the 300 unarmed observers.
Over 3,000 people have been reported killed in the growing violence in Syria since the observers were deployed in mid-April. (AV)
