Syrian Demonstrators Unable to Pass Border
Posted On 13 Jan 2012
Syrian border guards dismissed a convoy of 150 demonstrators expatriates that attempted to cross Turkey into Syria to deliver blankets, medicine and food to the people affected by the government’s crackdown.
The activists gathered thanks to the social network of Facebook, and travelled from the southeastern city of Gaziantep in buses and cars. 15km later the activists reached the Turkish town of Kilis and set up a camp.
The Turkish foreign ministry informed Reuters news that they have been in communication with the convoy. However it has not been confirmed if Ankara supported the campaign. (AV)
