Tariff surcharges take effect for travelers

The Official Gazette published today the resolution of the Committee of Foreign Trade (Comex) that provides the payment of tariff surcharges or safeguards (additional value to customs duty) for “taxable goods” brought to the country by travelers through land and air borders.

The surcharges are applied since last March to 2,900 products brought by importers (about 30% of the total), among those TVs (45% tax), and footwear (25%).

The collection of safeguards to travelers is a measure that will try to compensate the devaluation of the Colombian peso.
