TC TV has to publicly apologize for segment ‘The Buttockmeter’ according to Supercom

The Superintendency of Information and Communication ( Supercom for its Spanish acronym) ordered Tc Television to public apologize for the segment ‘The Buttockmeter’ in `I´m the best, Tv show. The Supercom notes that there is sexist treatment of women in the segment.

“The administrative measure imposed establish that the director of the media should disseminate in the same space, a public apology for the sexist treatment given to women in this segment, within 72 hours , counted from the notification resolution ( 28 May) , “said Cordicom .

“The apology must also be published in the first interface of the web portal of the media, for not less than seven consecutive days shall also send a copy to the Supercom (Superintendency of Information and Communication) for its publication in the institutional website , “says the resolution.

The Supercom acted under Article 62 of the Communication law, which prohibits “the dissemination by any social media of discriminatory content which has the purpose or effect of impairing or nullifying the recognition, or exercise of human rights in the Constitution and in international instruments. ”

Monday 5 of may the Council Regulation and Development of Information and Communication determined that the contents of ‘El Nalgómetro ‘ are discriminatory for reasons of sex , following a complaint lodged by Juan Francisco Torres Merin , General Secretary of the Communist Youth of Ecuador.
