The agro-industry will not excel in 2016
The climate, the market and the smuggling are the worst enemies of coastal agriculture. The agro-industry industry expects a difficult year, a kind of frontal collision against the crisis, which hits hard the rural economy.
In a meeting that gathered yesterday several unions of the country, under the leadership of the Rural Dialogue Group, the conclusion was overcoming the obstacles depends on them, because they did not take advantage of the oil boom and because of the liquidity reduction they can expect very little from the government.
“First we have to recognize the problems to confront them,” says Ney Barrionuevo, director of the group, sponsored by Rimisp (Latin American Center for Rural Development). In the meeting they talked about everything: the impact of natural phenomena, the dramatic deterioration of soil, the lack of international markets, low prices, etc.
