This Thursday, July 1, the Waorani population living in the Tagaeri – Taromenane Intangible Zone (ZITT), located in the province of Orellana, began to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

In total 126 members of this nationality will be inoculated until this Friday 2 by brigades of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) in coordination with the Secretariat of Human Rights.

Waorani people are immunized at two vaccination posts in the Bameno community. Members of the Ñoneno, Guemeneweno, Omakaweno, Boanamo, Cononaco Chico and Omere communities attend these venues.

Between Thursday, June 24 and Friday, June 25, delegates from the MSP and the Secretariat for Human Rights spoke with community leaders to explain the vaccination process and inspect the inoculation points. (I)
