The CNE warns parties, media and authorities
The requests of political organizations resonated. The National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) will extend control over precampaign or anticipated election campaign.
This was decided yesterday by the plenary of the body.
Last week, the opposition asked to monitor the use of public resources for personal promotion. And the ruling coalition proposed an oversight commission for the anticipated campaign attributed to Guillermo Lasso, CREO leader.
Thus, the Council imposed a new obligation for political organizations. They shall, says the resolution, report all election expenses, even if these were contracted prior to the call to elections.
And warns that expenses corresponding to the pre-campaign or anticipated campaign will be charged, with a view to the elections of 2017, in the categories of electoral expenses and promotion.
Citizens will be able denounce electoral violations in the CNE or in the Electoral Tribunal. These will be processed when the candidate is qualified.
