The collection of signatures is done against the clock
The 33 national and 59 provincial political organizations that got their password and are in the process of obtaining their legal status in the National Electoral Council (CNE) must submit all the requirements set out in the Code of Democracy until July 18th. The electoral agency must notify them until August 18th, if they managed to enter on time.
Therefore, movements and parties are accelerating the collection of signatures of support and affiliations. This is the case of the Democratic Left (ID), which aims to recover its legal status with its traditional emblem: the orange color and the number 12.
The party has advanced much of the way, but it has yet to gather 178,000 signatures required by law and which corresponds to 1.5% of the electoral roll. Wilma Andrade, its national president and legal representative, said that so far, the Democratic Left has a 70% (about 133,000 affiliations) of valid records. These came out of a package of about 400 000 signatures submitted in the first quarter of the year.
