The Customs Office warns about the sale of “personal effects”

The goods or “personal effects” carried by travelers in their luggage may not be sold commercially, according to the National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae for its Spanish acronym).
The Senae and the Internal Revenue Service (SRI) warn that the goods purchased abroad, which the traveler enters as luggagethrough international airports or border crossings, “are intended solely for personal or family use/consumption of the traveler, and its transfer or marketing is prohibited by the rules and regulations. “
The “personal effects” include, clothing, toiletries, personal hygiene items, jewelery, personal ornaments and household goods, books, magazines, food properly sealed and medicine.
