The Government causes tension between artists and radio stations

EcuadorNews:
More rules. The last decree of President Rafael Correa on the Law of Communication bothers those involved. It dictates two orders for the broadcast of national music, is “redundant, unnecessary” and a cause for conflict, according to artists and broadcasters.
Correa decreed that national radios broadcast music from local talents in “prime time hours.” The Council for the Regulation of Communication (Cordicom) will regulate that provision through a resolution.
Troi Alvarado, musician and president of the Society of Authors of Ecuador (Sayce) does not agree with this provision. However, he does not believe that orders by decree are the right way to boost the industry. The artist says that the relationship with radio stations was affected after the legal imposition.
