The growth estimate for Ecuador improves
Posted On 26 Jun 2017
Ecuadornews:
According to the latest projections released this month in the World Bank’s World Economic Outlook, Ecuador’s projection for 2017 is more optimistic than at the beginning of the year.
In January, the World Bank projected a decrease in the Ecuadorian economy of 2.9%, however, for June, estimates improved at -1.3%. This does not happen with the projection for Latin America since the perspective of regional growth was reduced from 1.2% to 0.8% (see infographics).
This symptom of improvement is shared by Ecuador and its peers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and others) thanks to agreements on oil production and consolidation of the fiscal accounts of its member countries, the report said. (I)
