The men of modern Guayaquil

Isidro Romero: A modern stadium fit for a modern city
Born in Riobamba and raised in Quito, Guayaquil and Spain, where he studied at the Cristobal Colon High School. The city “Pearl of the Pacific” owes him one of its most beautiful works of infrastructure: the Monumental stadium of Barcelona.
Isidro Romero Carbo, Spanish descendant, is a businessman who has left a large footprint in Guayaquil and Ecuador. He was close to the late businessman Luis Noboa Naranjo, and was married to one of his daughter, Isabel. Precisely, Isabel, Isidro Romero and Alvaro Noboa Ponton, are the most prominent businessmen in the Noboa Naranjo saga of Ecuador.
When Guayaquil celebrates its patron saint and foundation festivities, the city show-off its urban infrastructure with the pride of a modern and attractive city with tourism attractions, thanks to continued municipal administration which began with Leon Febres Cordero in 1992 and currently continues with Jaime Nebot since the 2000. And is the Monumental stadium in Barcelona one of its prized jewels.

Monumental Stadium
Built in 1987 under the leadership of Isidro Romero Carbo, the stadium is considered one of the best in Latin America, for its architecture, size, safety and soccer achievements, since it has hosted two finals of the Libertadores Cup, a sub-17 World Cup, one America Cup and three World Cup qualifying matches.
Long Live Guayaquil!
