The National Assembly decided to grant partial objection to the veto of the Executive for the Organic Law of Equality Councils. This will be sent to the Official Registry for its publication and effectiveness.
They accepted the suggestion of President Rafael Correa that technical Secretaries of the National Councils for Equality should have post-graduate studies and will be appointed by the President of the respective Council.
The secretaries shall be now elected out of their Councils, will be freely appointed and removable and shall exercise the legal, judicial and extrajudicial representation of the organisms.
This new legislation also creates five Councils for equality: gender, human mobility, disabilities, people and intergenerational nationalities.
