There is still discomfort within the Alianza PAIS party. The bureau of the government party now has new faces that are close to President Lenin Moreno. Minister of Defense Miguel Carvajal, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Fernanda Espinosa, and Secretary of Higher Education Augusto Barrera were recently appointed.
These designations have a direct effect: these overshadow figures identified with the ‘correism’ as Doris Soliz, who no longer belongs to the bureau, and Marcela Aguiñaga, who remains at the leadership only because she is still the provincial director of Guayas. (I)
