The ruling party and the opposition request a trial against Comptroller

Both the ruling party Alianza PAIS as well as the political opposition have requested the political trial against the State, Carlos Pólit, as well as the appearance of officials in the case of bribes of the Brazilian company Odebrecht.

The Alianza PAIS (PA) and the CREO bloc announced yesterday, separately, the impeachment of Pólit “for the alleged breach of his duties,” although both parties indicated that they are in the process of collecting evidence and signatures of support from legislators; since according to the Constitution, 35 signatures are required to file a request for interpellation against an official subject to political control.

The president of the Legislature Jose Serrano yesterday told the press of five decisions taken at a meeting held on Sunday night among pro-government officials, where in addition to a trial against Pólit, they resolved to immediately call the attorney general Carlos Baca to report the progress of Odebrecht’s investigations (I).
