The Norwegian company Skretting, which started operations in the country in 2013, has begun the construction of a new shrimp feed production plant. The factory located in Durán had an investment of $ 65 million.
General manager of Skretting Ecuador Carlos Miranda specified that the 3.5-hectare project, with a projected annual production of 470,000 tons of feed, will finish its first phase at the end of 2018, while the conclusion of the phases is expected for 2019. “Its construction includes the latest technological and environmental advances,” Miranda said that although Ecuador accounts for 50% of all shrimp produced in America, 10% of the production will go to Peru.
