The State allocates $822 million for the retirement of teachers

The Ministry of Education designed a timetable of retirement according to the year of birth of the teachers, which will prioritize the teachers with more than 70 years old, and teachers suffering from serious diseases. This process will be carried out until 2016.

The Minister responsible, Augusto Espinosa, said that between 2008 and 2012 were 12.146 retirements; and from 2013 to 2016 are projected 17.337, with a budget of 822,1 million dollars.

Espinosa said that according to available resources, each year different funding sources will be searched to finance the volunteer teachers who expressed their decision to retire.

According to the timetable,  the retirees who were born between 1942 and 1944 will be a priority during 2013; in 2014, teachers born in 1944; in 2015, 1945; and in 2016, those born in 1946.
