The transsexual Jenna Talackova will participate in the Miss Universe Canada Competition
The Miss Universe Canada organizers have decided to allow Jenna Talackova, a 23 years old canadian transsexual, to join the competition to be held in Toronto in May this year, as soon as she proves that she meets the legal requirements for canadian sex recognition and other International competition standards.
The last-minute decision made by the Miss Universe Canada has been some breaking news on what was initially announced. This happened a few days after Talackova hired the lawyer Joseph Arvay, he later declared the newspaper “The Globe and Mail” that Canadian laws prohibit discrimination against transgender people.
The rejection of Talackova, who said she knew she was a woman since she was four years old and went through a sex change surgery at age 19, provoked a strong stir among Canadian people who now praise the decision of the Miss Universe organizers, and are very proud to be represented by the candidate.
