They condemn to one year of jail to expert that changed the name of Glass for Lasso

Posted On 17 May 2018

Ecuadornews:

The Criminal Guarantees Court of Pichincha, chaired by Judge Silvana Velasco, sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of four unified basic salaries, for the crime of procedural fraud, to the expert José Luis Fuentes within the Odebrecht case. The agent would have written the word “Lasso” to replace “Jorge Glas”.

The crime was committed on June 23, when Fuentes altered the information by transcribing the audio of a conversation between former Comptroller Carlos Pólit and Odebrecht reporter José Santos.

The uniformed would have changed Glas’s name to Lasso’s in the following fragment of the recording: “… But I knew that (altered name) is already making cash, asking for money, asking for money, a lot of money for him …”.

In addition, Fuentes hid the names of José Santos, Ricardo Rivera and also omitted words such as Daule – Vinces, according to the Public Prosecutor of the Transparency and Anti – Corruption Unit, Christian Fierro.

Another of the irregularities that was detected was the use of the letters XXX instead of writing the name of the people that were heard in the audio, adds prosecutors.

To substantiate his accusation, prosecutor Fierro presented around 20 pieces of evidence, among them: the expert report made by the sentenced person, the recognition of the place of the facts, the reports of two new expertises made to the same audio with the equipment used by José Luis Sources, and the expert report to verify the dissimilarities, which confirmed the commission of the crime adds the prosecution.

In this trial hearing the audios were reproduced in order to verify that the recording was clear and did not need hearing aids to be understood, since the agent would have argued that the error had to do with not being given the adequate technical resources to He made the report and said that he only had one day to transcribe a 40-minute audio.
