Three prisoners injured during a mutiny in a prison of Machala
The mutiny occurred in the center of Social Rehabilitattion of Machala confirms the state of tension, insecurity and violence in the prisons of the country, where similar events have occurred in the last months.
According to Prosecutor Rene Ormaza, the mutiny in Machala happened when inmates began shooting and the guides responded to try to control them
Those affected, who were identified as Luis Alvaro Camba, (26 years); Joao Pena, (19 years), and Marco Rezabala (unknown age), were shot in their extremities, chest and back, therefore, they were transferred to the Teofilo Dávila hospital.
Other eight inmates, who were beaten, received medical attention at the Rehabilitation Center received from the Fire Brigade of Machala.
Meanwhile, agents of the Judicial police and the army cordoned off the outside of the jail to perform requisitions. The authorities expect a report of those responsible to assume control actions and solutions.
